Pottery Studio

We are proud to provide pottery classes, events, and open studio time to potters of all skill levels at the North Country’s premier pottery studio! The studio is equipped with everything a growing or experienced potter needs.

POTTERY LESSONS


Are you interested in learning the basics of creating on the wheel or handbuilding? Are you a potter with some experience and want to develop your skills or learn a specific technique?  Or perhaps you are looking for an introduction to clay.

Make an appointment for a class that is designed to meet your skill level and objectives.  Classes are available Monday through Sunday and are designed to fit your schedule.  Please call the Pottery Studio directly to make your appointment at (315) 686-4123, x205.

Tuition covers instruction, clay, glazes, and firing fees. Tuition is per person.

Available sessions:

The Clay Experience: (2 HOURS) $65

In the Clay Experience, you will learn the basics of throwing on the pottery wheel and create three pots.  You will select your best pot and add some decorations which we will process and fire. One pot kept is included in the class, additional pots kept are $5 each. You can choose a glaze for your pot from a selection of studio glazes. Completed work takes at least two weeks to process before you can pick it up. If you are from out of town and would like us to ship your pots, we can also arrange shipping for a fee.

FUNDAMENTALS OF WHEEL THROWING:  (6 HOURS)  $125

This 3-day/6-hour class will take you through the entire process – throwing, trimming, and glazing – and is designed for individuals who want to learn basic skills.

WHEEL TECHNIQUES:  (12 HOURS)  $225

This class is designed for experienced individuals who want to explore a variety of forms as well as sharpen both wheel-throwing skills and handbuilding techniques.

STUDIO POTTER:  (30 HOURS)  $500

This class is designed for the serious potter and will focus on control and consistency of wheel thrown forms, handbuilding techniques, and glaze development.

SPECIAL EVENTS BY APPOINTMENT

Gather your friends for a crafty afternoon; play with clay at a birthday part; or throw on the wheel as a team building activity. The pottery studio is available for any number of activities and special evens.  Contact the pottery studio at 315-686-4123, x205.

 

PRIVATE RAKU PARTIES 

TIAC’s raku firing experience is designed to give you a feel for that ancient process. Bisque fired pieces will be available to choose from and you’ll then glaze the pieces you’ve chosen before they go into the outdoor kiln to be fired. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks to enjoy while your glazed pieces are being fired. Call Kathy for pricing at 315-686-4123, x205 or stop by and chat with her in the pottery studio.

POTTERY STUDIO PASSES:

One session: $20

Six sessions: $60

Twelve sessions: $90

Clay: 1 25# bag $35 (includes glaze cost)

Firing Fees: Bisque (cone 04) and glaze (cone 6) are charged at $0.04/cubic inch (Height x Width x Length).
