Basketry: A Time-Honored Craft

CLAYTON, NY (October 1, 2019) – The Thousand Islands Arts Center (TIAC) is pleased to announce the opening of Basketry: A Time-Honored Craft on October 7th.  The exhibition will showcase the beauty and history of basketry in all its forms – from antique to modern – using the vast array of materials that baskets can be created from.

The opening reception is Tuesday, October 8th from 4 – 5:30, and is free and open to the public.  Admission to the exhibition after the opening is free to all TIAC members and $5 for non-members.  It will run through November 22nd.

Leslie Rowland, TIAC’s executive director, said: “We are gratified to have over 100 baskets on display – many from prized private collections, some from our own collection, and some, over 150 years old.”

In conjunction with the basketry exhibition, TIAC is pleased to host selections from the Les Corbin Collection, which takes visitors on a historical photographic journey through Clayton from 1850-1960.
