Blanket 93.8.2
Light aqua baby blanket with horizontal bands of white and green. Woven in variations of twill. Two knotted fringe ends and two selvedges finished with crocheted scallops. Paper tag reads: "cherepov ltd. / handwoven fabrics..." Warp threads are fine aqua yarns in two ply S twist wool, and, large light blue wool plied with fine blue cotton thread. Grey wall hanging showing three horizontal rows of paired white poodles in mirror image poses. Pocket across top for hanging rod. Hanging cord of briaded black and white woolen yarn. Greyish beige and brown wall hanging. Two large horizontal bands of basket weave on a background of plain weave. Colors are gently graduated from light at sides to dark down middle. Accession register notes say "woven and donated by Louise Deller, 1983." Rod pocket at top formed by looped warp yarns. Length of hanging folded over at top to form fringed top border. Long fringe at bottom with alternating rows of square knots for lacy appearance. Two selvedges, two fringed ends. Wooden dowel in rod pocket. All yarns are two ply S twist wool of medium weight. Ensemble 95.14.2a-c
Three piece ensemble consisting of dress, self sash, and jacket. Overall rust color created by blend of yellow and russet yarns in shadow weave. Dress is sleeveless with front zipper closure and large with peak ends at front and back. Self sash terminates with braided and wrapped fringe. Lined with off-white synthetic crepe. Jacket has straight lines with short cuffed sleeves. Collarless and plain open front. Lined with off-white synthetic sheer fabric. Correspondence concerning donation includes letter from weaver and donor Louise Deller. Louise Deller describes yarns and construction. Letter of donation dated August 1989.
