Coverlet 95.16.2
Coverlet fragment - red and dark greenish-blue wool. This section of a coverlet contains the center seam where two loom widths were sewn together to make a larger coverlet. The two pieces appear to be of two different dye lots. There are also two narrow hemmed seams. Weave structure is overshot weave. Pattern is Series IV Radiating Pattern part of blooming leaf and table. Warp is dark greenish-blue wool, weft is the same. Pattern weft is dark rust wool. Coverlet - dark blue wool and white cotton woven in double weave. Pattern creates a grid/table. Pattern is a variation of John Landes Pattern #66 on p. 166. The warp is a fine, natural, 2 ply cotton.
