Off white yardage with raised grid of boucle yarns. Plain weave with warp and weft of natural cotton, synthetic/cotton boucle, and white pearl cotton. Appears to be sett in 12 dent reed with natural cotton double for ten threads and three heavier sets in single. Old label sewn to fabric is a jury label for a textile show with Berta's name and address enterd, along with notes on yarns used and "NFS" Another old identification tag shows ink inscription of a museum loan number "L 41.62.6" indicating this item was loaned to a museum in 1941....View Full Record

Child's jacket pieced together by machine stitching using striped fabric for all but central panels flanking center-front opening. Jacket shows old label noting that it is Syrian. Striped fabric is warp-faced with yellow, green, navy, and cream threads. Weft is navy thread. Fabric flanking center-front opening is cream with multicolored stripes and diamond shapes set in rows across width. Short stand up collar. Very long, narrow sampler. Narrow, multicolored, horizontal bands show a variety of overshot patterns. Two selvedges and two knotted fringed ends. Hand basted pocket at one end. Warp threads are ecru linen, three ply Z twist. Binding and plain weave weft is a fine, two ply S twist yellow cotton yarn.
