Chartreuse cloth fragment appears to be part of a table mat or runner. Lacy Bronson weave creates grid with alternating blank squares and squares marked in center with criss cross lacy motif. Small natural cotton sample with blue lines and blue lettering: "B F." mounted on card. It is plain weave with inlay. Warp and tabby weft are natural cotton three ply Z twist fine yarn. Fill is heavier natural cotton and blue cotton, both of which appear to be three or four ply and both have an S twist. Large remnant of burgundy fabric with textured striped design in weave. Plain weave/twill variation vertical bands. Some bands are broken twill, some are probably basket weave. Warp is cotton two ply S twist and weft is rayon singles. One selvedge edges and remaining edges are raw cut. Cloth Fragment 86.1.212b
Taupe and cream colored cloth fragment. Very subtle vetical stripe formed by pairing taupe theads sandwiching white boucle thread between bands of plain natural cotton. Warp and weft threads are: natural cotton four ply Z twist, white boucle in cotton and rayon, and taupe four ply S twist cotton. Sample 86.1.205
White-on-white sampler with plain weave background and large white cotton chenille yarn inlaid to create windowpane check pattern. Warp and weft threads are two ply Z twist white cotton. Inlaid yarn is large white chenille. Typewritten note sewn to sample says that the chenille is "Lily" chenille, and notes that the sample has been washed and iron on one half only, can be done on a two harness loom and is designed to be seamed with identical widths to create wide fabric with subtle seams....View Full Record
