For intermediate weavers who are comfortable winding a warp and dressing a loom.
Ever admire a traditional woven coverlet and wondered how it was woven? In this workshop you’ll learn that you can achieve similar looks with multiple weave structures, including overshot, summer and winter, M’s & O’s, lace weaves, crackle, twills, and double weave. You’ll also learn how profile (block) drafts relate to several different weave structures. By the end of class, you will have created woven samples on four and eight shaft looms, and be comfortable enough to create your own block drafts at home to translate them into several distinct weaves.
Students: Please bring a prepared warp (to be discussed with instructor), weft, graph paper, a few colored pencils, and lunch. Optional: Personal loom with four or more shafts, shuttles, laptop with weaving program.
